Autumnalia is a meditation on the diminishing light of the end of a year of immense disruption and stressors for normal everyday people, ourselves included, as they attempt to make headway in daily life. Reflections of life as children grow, but also as they grow new struggles emerge, the angle of the light making its path towards the resting place of the solstice and thusly the transition into winter. Each song serves as a immediate expression of all these emotions collapsing into repose, and then into composition. The process for this music is based in improvisational technique, each take coming forward with no rehearsals, each take requiring listening with intent to the prior performance and then adding or subtracting for the recording of the next track, building into composition. We hope that the compositions recorded for Autumnalia extend to the listener a conveyance of motion, space, time, and the planet, universe that we all share.
